MR XXX PRESENTS … THIS IS SOUL .. Disco .. Reggae

LISTEN TO MY JUKEBOX!

This Is Soul (Atlantic 643 301 - 2018, 50th Anniversary Expanded UK Edition) (1968)

This compilation album was originally released in the UK by Atlantic Records in 1968 and has been much loved by soul fans around the world for the past 50+ years.

This official 50th anniversary edition was released in 2018 and was expanded by 17 bonus tracks to make a 29 track album
with a running time of 79:18 CD length.

This Is Soul (Atlantic 8170 - 2018, 50th Anniversary Expanded US Edition) (1968)

This compilation album was originally released in the US by Atlantic Records in 1968 and has been much loved by soul fans around the world for the past 50+ years.

This was the US version of the original UK edition, which featured different cover artwork, along with a different tracklisting, although 3 songs did carry over from the UK version.

This particular edition has never been officially released on CD. Here is my own compilation featuring the original 12 tracks, plus a bonus 16 tracks have now been added which are all unique to the US edition,
all big hits for Atlantic recording artists and were released before and during 1968, the original album release date, creating an expanded 28 track album with a running time of 78:08 CD length.

Souled Out - 49 Original Hits - 49 Original Stars (K-tel NA 450 AUS - NE 508 UK - NU 9010 USA - TN 1161 NLD) (2021 Expanded Edition) (2CD) (1976)

Souled Out was issued by K-tel in four different counties over a period of four years. The series contained a great 10 year span of classic soul from 1966 to 1976.

The albums were released in Australia (1973), the UK (1974), the USA (1975) and in the Netherlands in (1976).

They each had different tracklistings.

For this 2021 remaster, I have selected the 49 very best tracks from all four versions for a special 2CD set.

Disc 1 comprises of 25 of the very best song selections with a running time of 79:08 CD length.

Disc 2 comprises of 24 of the very best song selections with a running time of 78:21 CD length.

Hit Fever - Original Hits - Original Stars (Arcade ADE G41 GER - ADE H36 NLD) (2021 Expanded Edition) (1978)

This album was originally released by Arcade in Germany and the Netherlands in 1978. They each had different tracklistings.

I've compiled this 2021 remaster to include the very best song selections from both versions, creating a 21 track compilation with a running time of 77:41 CD length.

Disco 75 (3CD) (2021)

FANTASTIC new 2021 compilation from Cherry Red. It really has the look and feel of a K-tel album from 1975!

A brand new series of releases devoted to the rise of Disco in the ‘70s, a genre which began when soul music became the most popular sub-genre of Rhythm & Blues within the African American culture in the USA, from where, the cult of the DJ emerged.

‘Disco 75’ features huge hits along with dancefloor essentials that changed the face of dance music mid-decade; including massive radio-friendly tunes from Shirley (And Company), The Jackson Five, KC and the Sunshine Band, Archie Bell and The Drells, The O’Jays, The Whispers, The Average White Band, Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes, Disco-Tex and the Sex-O-Lettes and more.

Over three CDs and 55 tracks, Robinsongs has collected the most in demand records that sparked that initial interest in Disco around the world.

Designed by Michael Robson and mastered by Simon Murphy this is the definitive collection of the dancefloor sounds of 1975. The best of 1976, 1977, 1978 and 1979 will follow.

The Best of Reggae - Original Stars - Original Hits (K-tel NE 498 UK) (2021 Doctor Bird Expanded Edition) (2CD) (1973)

It's great news that Cherry Red's Doctor Bird label recently released this best selling TV advertised album from the 70s on CD.
In fact, this is the very first time any K-tel, Ronco, Arcade, etc. TV advertised album from the 70s has ever been officially released on CD.

K-tel originally released 'The Best of Reggae' double album set in the UK in 1973.

Doctor Bird have expanded the original album to include a second disc of 27 bonus tracks, but unfortunately the original album is missing two;
'Wonderful World, Beautiful People' by Jimmy Cliff and 'Take Me Home, Country Roads' by Toots & the Maytals, plus the running order has been
changed in a few places. I have added the two missing songs.

Here is my fully restored original 30 track compilation with the correct running order on disc 1, plus the second Doctor Bird bonus disc of 27 tracks.
The second disc contains a few tracks which have never been released on CD before, so makes for a very interesting compilation.

  1. Ahh the K-Tel records. Happy days. Thanks for Souled Out. Played it on cassette to death back in the day, trying to impress the ladies in my car. Needless to say, didn't work. Cheers Les, all the best. DD
