Smiths Chart Busters (Lyntone LYN 3142-3157 UK)

(2022 Remastered Expanded Edition) (1975)

A special promotion by Smiths Crisps in the UK in 1975.

You had to save up 20 tokens from packets of Smiths Crisps,Chipsticks, Quavers, Chipitos, Smokees or Twists in order to send off and choose one of eight flexi-discs available. 

All flexi-discs came in a plain white sleeve inside a 7" gate-fold picture sleeve.

The artists to choose from were: Bay City Rollers, Gary Glitter, The Glitter Band, Showaddywaddy, Sweet Sensation, Rubettes, The Stylistics, Status Quo and Slade.

All 16 tracks are included here, plus for this special 2022 remaster, a further 6 bonus tracks have been added by some of the same artists released around the same time, and were all big hits in 1974 and 1975.

This now 22 track collection has a CD running time of 77:58.

The Kinks - 20 Golden Greats! is a compilation album by The Kinks released by Ronco in 1978 and peaked at No. 19 in the UK album chart.

The album remains officially unreleased on CD.

All tracks are the original 7" 45 mono single mixes.

For this 2022 remaster I have now added 8 bonus tracks from 1965 to 1969, all singles which were not featured on the original album due to time constraints, making a 28 track CD with a running time of 79:38.

Now That's What I Call Music - The Christmas Album (2021 Remastered Expanded Edition) (1985)

Now - The Christmas Album is a compilation album released in 1985. The album is part of the Now! series in the United Kingdom, and collects popular Christmas songs of the last few decades. 

It reached number 1 on the UK Albums Chart for two weeks, 

in between two runs of Now That's What I Call Music 6.

It has never been re-released in its entirety on CD, a fewer tracks version was released in 1986. 

Newly compiled using the latest digital remasters at 320 -

 the original 1985 UK album with the complete 18 tracks (the 1986 CD had 16).

For this special 2021 remastered edition, I have added 4 bonus tracks, including 'Thanks for Christmas' by The Three Wise Men (XTC) (1983), 

and 'December Will Be Magic Again' by Kate Bush (1980),

which never show up on compilations, all released before 1985, 

the original album release date, making a 22 track CD with a running time of 79:35.

There were two versions of the album: 'Mama Weer All Crazee Now' by Slade was featured on most editions,

but there was one edition where it was substituted for 'Let Your Yeah Be Yeah' by Brownsville Station.

I have included both tracks on this 2021 remaster, making it 23 tracks with a CD running time of 78:23.

The reason I decided to rebuild all of these albums from scratch

 (rather than ripping from the original vinyl), is that all of these 70s compilations

from K-Tel, Arcade and Ronco were very badly mastered with poor sound quality 

with many tracks being severely edited in order to squeeze on as many tracks per side as possible.

I've made absolutely sure through extensive research to use all the original complete 7" 45 single versions (which were originally used on the albums, but cut short),

from my own extensive CD library and mp3 digital downloads, to make these compilations the very best sounding they can be.

What makes these albums most interesting for me is that each one contains, even to this day,

 a few extremely rare, obscure and hard to find tracks.

This was my most difficult and challenging collection to compile to date as it features 13 really obscure and hard to find tracks.

I had to order a quite a few original 45 7" singles from Discogs, as many of the songs have never been released on CD or as a digital download.

 

Reparata's 'Shoes' has only ever been released on CD once, and is quite rare, and has over the years become something of a cult classic. 

It should have been a massive hit, but encountered huge release and distribution problems back in 1975:

Quite an interesting concept for a compilation album originally released by Ronco in 1980. It features 20 space, galactic, alien and UFO themed songs,

and is really very good!

There were 3 releases of this album in the UK, US and Canada all with different tracklistings.
