COMMENTS
This album was issued in 1978 as a double album on the Tomato label in the US (TOM-2-9003) and in the UK on the RCA label (XL 03073[2]). Essentially Ballroom Streets is a live album but recorded in the studio with a small audience. It mixed new recordings of old and recent material along with some new songs. Unlike her previous live albums which featured just Melanie and her guitar, this time she is with a full band and some tracks, like Cyclone/Candles In The Rain and Ruby Tuesday, demonstrate that Melanie could produce blistering rock numbers along with the best of them, though not always to the approval of all fans.
When the CD was first issued in 1989 the full double album could not be fitted onto a single disc and a 2CD set would presumable have been too expensive to produce. Therefore the album was shortened and four tracks dropped. The CD does not include Holding Out, Any Guy, Groundhog Day and Friends and Co. Nowadays technology has advanced and it is possible to produce CDs with much longer running times and the whole album could now be fitted on to a single disc...... END OF POST ... NO READ MORE
